  1. Take 1/2 kg jackfruit (raw) cut in square pieces
  2. Take 2 tbsp oil for curry
  3. Prepare 3-4 medium size onion

  11. Prepare 1/4 cup hung curd
  12. Make ready 1 tsp cumin seeds
  13. Get 1 tsp turmeric powder
  14. Make ready 2 tsp coriander powder
  15. Take 1 tsp red chilli powder
  16. Make ready 1 tsp cumin powder
  17. Get to taste Salt
  18. Take 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh coriander leaves

But do you know that most parts of a raw unripe jackfruit can be cooked as normal vegetable other than the thorny outer skin? Here is a simple recipe to. Heat the oil in a large frying pan. Add the mustard seeds, chana dal and urid dal, if using, and cook until crackling.

  1. Boil the jackfruit pieces in salt water and remove extra parts.
  2. Fry the jackfruit pieces on medium high flame, till golden brown.
  3. Add oil in a pan and add whole spices, roughly chopped onion, garlic and ginger and fry for at least for 5-10 min. Take them out in a mixer and make fine paste.
  4. Now add another shift of some oil in the same pan and add cumin seeds and the prepared paste to it. In the meanwhile make paste of tomatoes and green chillies and add this paste too to the pan.
  5. Keep stirring and cook for another 5-8 min. Add rest of the spices along with salt and cook further for 2-4 min.
  6. Add curd and fresh cream and keep stirring until the gravy leaves the pan.
  7. Add fried jackfruit pieces and cook further for 5-10 min until the gravy covers the pieces evenly and they become soft.
  8. Add chopped coriander and serve with a twig of fresh mint leaves.
